Barcelo or Paradisus Punta Cana

I have been to Punta Cana two times now. My first visit was at the Paradisus resort, my second the Barcelo in Punta Cana. Although both resorts in the Dominican Republic are highly recommended and both have the ability to ensure an awesome Caribbean vacation, the Paradisus resort really is in favour with me.

The Caribbean ambiance at the Paradisus is much better and more pleasant to be in. In my last Punta Cana vacation at the Barcelo resort this huge difference was immediately clear. In my opinion the Barcelo tries to hard to create a Caribbean like environment. You sometimes feel and see that some features are fake and overdone.

Paradisus Punta Cana on the other hand does a much better job letting you feel and experience "Caribbean Paradise" from the minute you check in. Nicely divided features throughout the resort which are not confronting. It is al man made of course but I believe Punta Cana resorts must be careful not to overdo it.
