Padre de la Patria Juan Pablo Duarte who designed the colorful Dominican Republic Flag, altered the layout of the blue color and the red color of the Haitian Flag by placing a large white cross over it. See it at Punta Cana airport when you are there.
Which was a good way for him to symbolize faith. This white cross touches the edges of the Dominican Flag dividing it into rectangles, four of them, which are the colors blue and red at the top and blue and red at the bottom.

Also featuring a coat of the arms held by a laurel branch and a frond of palms which is located in the middle of the characteristic white cross. A blue small ribbon mention the words 'Dios' and 'Patria' and 'Libertad' which means 'God, Fatherland and Liberty'. This text is just above the Dominican shield.
At the bottom of this Dominican shield the text 'Republica Dominicana' is visible on the red ribbon. When you look at the center part of the Dominican shield you will see that also three spears are visible. Two spears have Dominican banners and holding the Bible which has located above it another but smaller cross.
