Juan Pablo Duarte was later helped by del Rosario Sanchez, Francisco and Matias Mella, Ramon and who became the founding men of this wonderful country called Dominican Republic.
Some years later in 1844, February 27 to be exactly, the Trinitarians declared independence from their neighbouring country Haiti and its rule.
They were helped by a rich El Seibo rancher. His name was Pedro Santana who later became an army General.
The first Constitution of the Dominican Republic came to live in the year 1844, November 6. Being almost an exact copy of the US Constitution at that time.
