Excellence resort could do better

For years my girlfriend and I visit adults only resorts throughout the Caribbean. This year we finally chose the Excellence resort in Punta Cana to spend our all inclusive vacation. We knew about its existence but for some reason the Dominican Republic always came last on our "to do list". Due to some unfortunate circumstances at work I had to reschedule my agenda and therefore cancel my vacation at the Maldives this year.

The only descent last minute alternative seemed to be Excellence resort in Punta Cana. Friends told us it is a great place but needs some renovation. And this is partially true.

When people go in and out the place for years and years buildings and furniture start to wear a bit. You have to look for it but its there. I don't condemn this resort, in the contrary it's still a luxurious resort with great pools, bars, restaurants and live music. It was a fine vacation in Punta Cana for us, worth the money and everything, but not our best one in the Caribbean.
