I always have been curious about scuba diving. The Caribbean adventures of Jacque Cousteau shown on tv years ago encouraged me to find out more about the diving possibilities in the Caribbean. First I had to find a Caribbean location somewhere that would offer the best coral reefs.
When you browse the internet for the best diving places you'll find many beautiful coral reefs. The only problem is that some of these reefs do not have a decent hotel or resort nearby. And this newbie definitely wanted to combine a Caribbean vacation with a diving experience.
A few times Google search results came up with the "Riu Taino" resort in Punta Cana which apparently offered scuba diving experiences in the Dominican Republic. Narrowing down my search I discovered that this resort in Punta Cana had PADI certified instructors. PADI means "Professional Association of Diving Instructors" by the way.
And for a newbie like me I believed to have finally found the right place to have a vacation and to experience scuba diving. Fortunately I made the right choice. Indeed the Riu Taino resort offered amazing diving experiences supervised by PADI certified instructors teaching you the basics of scuba diving in the Riu Taino hotel pool first.
With other newbies it's lots of fun to do. No pressure to learn the diving skills because scuba diving is also about your and your fellow divers safety. In small groups you later have supervised dives in the Caribbean waters to a maximum of forty feet. Enjoying the coral reefs and the beautiful colored tropical fish.
I still consider myself I scuba diving newbie. And maybe someday I will see the remote parts of the Caribbean ocean Jacque Cousteau once dived before.
