Worth the long flight

Hello everybody,

We are Robert and Marianne from the Netherlands and we both went to the Iberostar resort in Punta Cana this year.

It was our first vacation outside of Europe and we had no idea what to expect from a Caribbean place like Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Of course we read lots of good reviews about Punta Cana and wondered what it would be like.

The many beautiful resort pictures found on the internet and the YouTube videos about this Punta Cana resort convinced us Iberostar had to be visited by us. From Europe it takes about a 10 hour flight to get to the Dominican Republic which is a long sit. When we landed at Punta Cana airport and finally could stretch our legs we were overwhelmed with the tropical temperatures of the Dominican Republic. We left the Netherlands when it was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit there so it took us a few minutes to get used to the Dominican climate.

When we arrived at Iberostar we had a nice welcome from the reception with a cocktail drink. They were really friendly and helpful. To my surprise we got a little wristband put on showing the name of the resort and proving you were its guests. The staff carried our bags to our resort suite which was just cleaned I guess because you could not find one piece of dust anywhere. After unpacking Marianne and I decided to have a stroll on the Iberostar resort grounds. Just to get an idea and first impression what Iberostar is all about. And to be honest our legs were asking for this walk after our 10 hour flight.

It was about 3.00 p.m when we met a local guy called "Chicco" at the Iberostar beach. He pointed out we could have dinner at the Iberostar restaurant if we wanted. He presumed we were hungry after our long day of travelling. During our stay Chicco became a sort of guide to us. He worked at the Iberostar and knew his way around which was a big welcome to us. Some of the best Caribbean trips and adventures tours taken by us were his idea. Really a great guy.

It was a pity our Punta Cana vacation ended so soon. 7 Days felt more like a long weekend. We are not sure if we ever are able to get back to Punta Cana again, financial speaking, but if it was up to us we would go back there next year.

Regards,
Robert and Marianne
